Camping Preparations

We spent the weekend preparing for our camping outing for next weekend. Alison made us reservations to camp at Big Basin in the Santa Cruz mountains. So we went and got a family sized tent and sleeping bags for the girls. We are now part of the REI co-op and I'm expecting my dividend check. We spent the rest of the afternoon going to a birthday party for some ward friends of Lina and Ruthie (see the pictures of party hats).

Alison and I got out for a date last night to the Stanford theatre to see and old Jimmy Stewart movie and when we got back I had the itch to set up the tent and make sure that we had all the right pieces. Sure enough we did, and it took up every inch of free space in the living room. Once it was up I thought, "we should do a test run sleeping in it with the girls.". They were asleep so we were able to slip them into their sleeping bags pretty quick. Ruthie only lasted until 1am before she woke up and kept asking "Where are we?" For the subsequent hour. Finally I took her back to her bed so the rest of us could sleep. Round about that time Alison was restless from Ruthie waking up so I sent her to bed. Then about 4am Lina sat up and told me it was scary in the tent and wouldn't go back to bed - so she went back to her bed. And after that I gave up and went back to bed too. Hopefully the test run got most of the kinks out of the system --- but as long as we don't wake up the neighbors next weekend I'm OK with however it goes.
